The UL FH Institute of Latvian History is an academic unit of the University of Latvia, Faculty of Humanities. The mission of the institute is to conduct research and increase knowledge based on an interdisciplinary approach in the field of history, archeology and ethnology; to maintain high standards in the research of Latvian history, archaeology, bioarchaeology, dendrochronology, ethnology; to cooperate in the creation of an educated and critically thinking society and to promote understanding of the formation processes of society, culture, and nation; to maintain, supplement and ensure access to culturally and scientifically important archaeological and ethnographic collections.
