On 13 and 14 February 2025, the 83rd International Scientific Conference of the University of Latvia (UL) will host the Faculty of Humanites (FH) History and Archaeology doctoral student's section "Stories of Things, Places and Individuals: How Microhistories Shape Historical Narratives".

The history of the world is filled with many notable and significant events that have fundamentally changed the course of human development. In the context of these pivotal moments, there are countless actors and objects that can only be appreciated through an in-depth close-up. Using a variety of examples to demonstrate how the examination of the smallest, often overlooked elements can enhance our understanding of the larger narrative of history and influence how history is presented. The goal of the History and Archaeology doctoral student’s section is to focus on micro-history.

The programme can be found on the section page: https://conferences.lu.lv/event/611/

Location: Kalpaka Boulevard 4, Room 108 (1st Floor Hall).

The conference is organized by the Faculty of Humanities, University of Latvia. The conference is supported by the state research program “20th and 21st Century Historical Research and Regeneration of Human Capital” project “Navigating the Latvian History of the 20th–21st Century: Social Morphogenesis, Legacy and Challenges” (project no. VPP-IZM-Vēsture-2023/1-0003).
