This week, on January 23 and 24, the University of Latvia is hosting a group of life writing researchers from Nordic and Baltic countries. Associate Professor Sanita Reinsone from the Faculty of Humanities is welcoming the guests as part of the Nordplus-funded project, coordinated by the University of Tartu, focusing on life writing research and practices in the Nordic and Baltic regions.

The goal of this meeting is to develop an international study course in the field of life writing, which will bring together undergraduate and graduate students from Estonia, Iceland, Latvia, Lithuania, Finland, and Sweden this April.

The course will provide students with an opportunity to explore various fields and interdisciplinary approaches in life writing research, as well as engage in practical activities. The course instructors are internationally renowned Nordic and Baltic scholars representing diverse areas of the humanities. Associate Professor Sanita Reinsone will deliver a lecture on digital humanities and life writing and will lead a workshop on digital participation methods in the creation of autobiographical archives as part of this course.

These activities are part of the Nordplus funded project “New Approaches to Teaching Nordic and Baltic Lives” (ID NPHE-2024/10338).
