Digitālās komunikācijas rīku uzplaukums un attīstītas ceļošanas tehnoloģijas sekmēja migrācijas diasporu veidošanās uzplaukumam, kuras mainīja un piešķīra sarežģītās nozīmes vietas jēdzienam, sekmēja jēdzienu ‘mājas’ un ‘patība’ jaunu apjēgsmi. Šajos mobilitātes un savstarpēju saišu kontekstos dzimtes, rases un diasporas jēdzieni tiek skatīti līdzās nācijas, nacionālās identitātes un piederības jēdzieniem. Divu dienu darbnīcas mērķis ir izpētīt attiecības transnacionālo tīklu, diasporisko virzienu/telpu un digitalitātes prakšu starpā, konkrētāk, veidus, kuros dzimte un rase iespaido identitātes, māju un patības jēdzienu digitālās izpausmes.
Darbnīca ir vērsta uz tādu inovatīvu metodoloģisko, teorētisko, un praktisko platformu iepazīšanu, kuras ir digitālo humanitāro zinātņu, diasporas studiju, dzimtes un kritisko rases studiju krustpunktā. Pasākums apvienos pieredzējušu pētnieku grupas no Somijas un ASV, kuri ir pazīstami par saviem pētniecības panākumiem digitālo humanitāro zinātņu, rases, etnicitātes un dzimtes studiju jomā. Darbnīca tāpat paredz tikšanās ar Baltijas valstu zinātniekiem, kuri veic pētījumus digitālajās humanitārajās zinātnēs. Darbnīcu veidos lekciju un diskusiju izlase, un pēc pasākuma noslēguma darbnīcas dalībnieki saņems LU Dzimtes Studiju centra un LU Akadēmiskā departamenta sagatavotus sertifikātus. Pasākumā būs nodrošināti mācību materiālu e-versijas.

Call for participation - Workshop for young scholars and postgraduate students Digital Diaspora: Gender, Identity, Belonging The Center for Gender Studies at the University of Latvia is pleased to open a call for participation in the interdisciplinary workshop for young scholars and postgraduate (M,PhD) students Digital Diaspora: Gender, Identity, Belonging which will be held on June 20-21, 2017, at the Faculty of Humanities of the University of Latvia (Visvalža 4a, Riga). The workshop director: Dr. Marija Semjonova (Coordinator of the Center for Gender Studies), marjsem@gmail.com The rise of digital communications and improved travel technologies has facilitated migrations and diasporas, that change and give complex meanings to places, that move us to rethinking the notions of home and self. In these contexts of mobilities and connectivities, the concepts of gender, race and diaspora are intensively addressed with regard to nation, national identity and belonging. The aim of the two-day workshop is to investigate the relations between transnational networks, diasporic flows/spaces and practices of digitality, in particular, the ways in which gender and race inflect digital domains of identity, home and self. The seminar is intended to introduce innovative methodological, theoretical and practical platforms at the intersection of digital humanities, diaspora studies, gender and critical race research. The workshop will gather a group of prominent scholars from Finland and the USA, known for the research in the areas of digital humanities, race, ethnicity and gender studies. The event will also include meetings with the scholars from Baltic States involved in digital humanities. The workshop research adviser – Prof. Irina Novikova (Director of the Center for Gender Studies) The workshop will consist of a cluster of lectures and discussion sessions, and its participants will receive a certificate at completion, issued by the Center for Gender Studies and the Academic Department of the University of Latvia.
