Moya Jones is professor of British Studies at the University of Bordeaux Montaigne, France. She is a graduate of the London School of Economics and is the author of numerous articles and publications in French and English, focussing on British history and politics and especially on the new constitutional settlements in the United Kingdom. Within the framework of her work on British identities, one of her particular areas of interest is Wales and Welsh studies. Lectures 14.30-16.00 Tuesday, May 12, Room 205 In the class on the governance of the UK, I will look at the way in which the United Kingdom became united and then at how, since 1997, it is becoming dis-united. I will talk about the distinct identities of the Irish, the Scots, the Welsh and the English and reflect on the recent Scottish referendum on independence. I will discuss the results of the 2015 general election in Britain, including what economic policy the new government will be likely to follow. 16.30-18.00 Wednesday, May 13, Room 401 In my class on Multicultural Britain, I will be examining the historical reasons why the UK became a multiethnic country after 1945. Then, I will talk about the way that immigration took on political and racist dimensions. The next part deals with the new kinds of immigration in Britain since the enlargement of the EU  in 2008 and the impact that this has had on jobs and on the economy as well as various social situations. This class also looks at the current tensions that have arisen with the increase in Islamophobia and racist attacks.
