An applicant must be a UL Faculty of Humanities student;
BA, MA, and PhD students can apply;
An applicant must not be on academic leave;
By the start of the mobility period, an applicant must have successfully finished at least 1 year of academic studies (BA), which is 60 ECTS;
One can apply for the studies at the partner universities which have an Erasmus+ agreement with the Faculty of Humanities (see below). One should check if the selected partner university offers exchange opportunities at their level (BA = U, MA = P, PhD = D) and for their study programme (‘study field’ in the table).
Some agreements are intended for particular study programmes, e.g. ‘English Studies’, and some are more general, e.g. ‘Languages’.

A student cannot go on long-term study mobility during their last study semester (the mobility should finish not later than during the first month of the last study semester at UL);
An applicant must not have any academic or financial debts;
An applicant’s language knowledge should be sufficient for studies and communication at the partner university

An applicant must attach a motivation letter in Latvian or in the study language of their study programme/ subprogramme. The letter is addressed to the study programme/ subprogramme director and it should include the list of courses (30 ECTS) the applicant plans to study at the partner university. To learn about the course offer, one should visit the partner university’s webpage or contact their international office.
Up to 3 priorities can be selected as the desired destination.
- The possibility to spend one term abroad (financial aspects, scholarship, family and health problems);
- Selection of the partner institutions should be made according to one’s academic interests (it is not tourism).
- For the motivation letter a student needs to understand what courses they are going to miss at UL during the absence and find the corresponding courses at the partner institution. Please, remember that neither the programme director, nor the international coordinator help you in this process. A student should research the home page of the partner institution
- A student should research the deadlines of application to the selected partner institution. Please note the specific deadlines and the list of documents that should be prepared in advance. An application process at the partner university starts after one receives a nomination from the UL.
- Some (not all) partner institution require a language certificate that can attest to the student’s level. If it is a requirement, make sure you have it.
- Grades – the average grade not lower than ‘7’
- Research activities
- Active participation in the social life of FH or UL
The submitted documents are reviewed by the Faculty of Humanities international coordinator, the study programme (subprogramme) director and the Selection Committee.
The results are announced in 2-3 week time after the application period is concluded.
UL FH international coordinator lect. Jekaterina Čerņevska will sign your application forms (in person or electronically with an e-signature) and send them to the UL international office.
UL outgoing students’ coordinator is Ms Sabīne Stepanova (sabine.stepanova@lu.lv). When she sends your nomination to the partner university, you will receive the information about their application process. When you receive a letter of acceptance from the partner university, please, send it to Ms Stepanova.
Look forward to receiving the information from the UL Mobility Division about Erasmus+ documentation. If you notice that there is a deadline and you have not received any information, please approach Jekaterina Čerņevska.
If this has not been done already, visit the partner university’s homepage and read the information for their incoming students, i.e. the deadlines for application and the documents to be submitted. Please note their language requirements (some universities might also require an official language certificate).
The Transcript of Records can be obtained at the Student Service or with the study programme administrator. It might take up to 3 working days. The Learning Agreement is signed by your study programme/ subprogramme director.

The students of the Faculty of Humanities can apply for Erasmus+ internship. A student, finding the internship in one of the enterprises abroad (Erasmus zone countries only), can get a scholarship from the University of Latvia.
The application procedure:
A student should find a place for his/her internship. However, before that a student should discuss the internship with the director of the programme (how the internship can be included into the programme).
A student should get an acceptance letter that confirms the readiness of an enterprise to accept the student for the period of the internship.

Erasmus+ internship lasts for 2-5 months.
Internship can take place in all EU countries (with the exception of Latvia), as well as in Norway, Iceland, Liechtenstein and Turkey.
Internship can take place in private or state institutions or research centres. The internship cannot take place in EU-related institutions or embassies.
A student should not be on a break, or have any study or financial debts.
